FIY or DIY? Or DIO?

It seems that DIY gets more and more popular in the UK. Assuming that the economically regressive year 2009 played a major role in this development I would really like to know who did everything prior they started doing it themselves!

But it's not only DIY - Do-It-Yourself - they're more and more after it's also FIY - Fix-It-Yourself - that's sought this year. Coming from a country where people try to do and fix as much as possible themselves because of simply having a solid understanding of craft, engineering and technology I'm wondering who else did and fixed everything for them prior they started DIY and FIY. And then I got really confused when I read about DIO - Do-It-Ourselves - in my smart WWGD - What-Would-Google-Do - book. Do It Ourselves? Is this the new DIAIC - Do-It!-And-I-Comment? No! It's simply the new DIY but within the social community. Need to fix something at home or at your car or at yourself? WWGD - ask Google! It's likely that somebody else had the same problem before and has documented the resolution. And most important: document your own resolution!

Could this really work? Probably! Provided you have some basic comprehension of how to do or fix things on your own. So... DIAIC?
