2009
After again visiting Linz due to Linz09, THE European capital of culture 2009, I'm once more impressed by the atmosphere I feel this year in this amazing little big city.
It's Europe you can see in every corner in Linz, beginning with several exhibitions on European art, European science and European music as well. And there's an even more important fact that makes Linz to an European city: the people. My impression is that people in Linz are open to Europe, open to more apart from their used environment. More open than other citizens of Austria. But the question is Why? Have the inhabitants of Linz become that Europe oriented due to Linz09 or have they been Europeans even before 2009? Could it be possible that one year full of culture, European culture, hosted by a city can change the attitude of it's inhabitants?
But in fact it's regardless what or who made the people in Linz to Europeans - the great thing is the fact that they became citizens of Europe! Hope remains that this movement spills over to the rest of Austria. Linz is Europe. Austria badly needs Europe.
