Attentive visitors probably have noticed that recently I've been in the UK in the marvellous city of Manchester. During a quite long weekend I got to know the amazing architecture and the mostly friendly inhabitants of Manchester.
Whilst waiting almost nine hours on the airport for my flight back to Bratislava I had a lot of time to think about differences in Europe. And I thought that despite of the 'europisation' there still must be differences of the people at least. So I recapitulated. What is so special about the British? Apart from the fact that they really love to get drunk and that they are very loud when they ar drunk and that the British like to run half-naked through the city while it is snowing at approximately 0° outside temperature and that the people in Britain have absolutetly no taste for good food (because british food is, sorry for writing this here, absolutely gruesome) they are a really nice, patient and courteous nation with mostly a much better taste for fashion than in most of the other European countries.
And at that moment when I was thinking about the Brits I learned how the Slovaks react when not everything runs to their satisfaction when a slovak passenger got very upset about the fact that the flight was delayed and went shit on the woman at the information desk. He didn't want to accept that the woman couldn't do anything against the delay. And I thought oh my god, that's exaclty the way typical Austrians react, perhaps not that aggressive but similar. But in this moment I just thought: The heck with it! (perhaps because I already have been used to delayed flights and waiting in airport buildings). But doesn't that mean that I'm mental more similar to the British than to the Austrians? But on the other hand side I'm a really impatient guy. Could that mean that the mentalities of all the different European peoples become blurred to an, let's say European mentality? Wouldn't it really be time for an European thinking in the meantime instead of all these national stereotypes?
